Looking for the Wulver

sea-wolf, Wolfburn

I’ve heard a lot of the famous Wulver (Sea-Wolf) living in the Scottish Highlands. “Wolfburn’s (remark: a whisky distillery in Thurso) motif depicts a creature found in both Scots and Norse mythology. favourite #2. no one loves - but me.

Here is the making of another image no one loves – at least it seems like that! – but me. It is one of my favourites.

I would like to show you the “making of” of one of those “rather difficult” images – it is one of my favourites.

Black shadows or shadow details?

Pure black shadow

Some photographic thoughts about contrasts, highlights and shadows.

Many modern contemporary fine art street photographs and cityscape photographs are characterized by strong contrasts between the deepest shadows and the brightest highlights – which makes them very attractive in common. Pure black shadows and pure white highlights predominate – in between there is only a small range of greytones; contrasts are high.
