in silent thinking

Are 35 km far enough?

Daydream about my perfect world.

(as always click the images to enlarge)

The sea

Endless grass is swaying gently in the wind – as far as I can see, what a silent expanse! Every plant is full of life, with plenty of nuances of rich green tones and fine details. I can hardly get enough of it.

The bothy

I lean back to the bothy1) – my old friend – the bothy. It gives me shelter from the elements, peace, silence and calm.

Silence and calm

Soft and gently my fountain pen glides over the sheet of paper – my mind is open again, it’s full of creative thoughts – give them time. Life is full of precious moments of beautiful light and mysterious shadows.

Deer

Deer are grazing in calm peace at the horizon, knowing full well that I am their friend. The old man and his camera – this is me! Silently I wave to them. Maybe it’s just my imagination, they seem to understand. Deer – my old friends – deer.

Deer at the horizon.

Clouds

Before it’s getting dark the ever changing clouds turn from grey to red, and finally to blue. The light is fading slowly.

The Moon

The Moon – my good old friend – the Moons pale silver light will whitewash the world in its true essence and reopen my heart. What a great gift you are here!

Scottish Highlands

The Wulver

Don’t be frightened if a shadow scurries by, it must be the Wulver2) – my good old friend – the Wulver. He always helps to find our way again when we are lost.

35 km

In a distance of 35 km to the nearest village my bothy is at the end of the world, most remote in the middle of endless meadows and grass scapes, next to a small water running down the soft curved Munros3) somewhere in the Highlands of Scotland. Once in two weeks my old Land Rover would take me to the village to shop, refuel, recharge, take a coffee or two, or three, and some scones, and listen to the latest news of the rest of the world.

2) Wulver. My favourite mysterious good creature of the Shetland Islands. He will protect those who believe in his existence. Read more about the Wulver here, here or here.
3) A Munro is defined as a mountain in Scotland with a height over 3’000 feet (914.4 m) (source Wikipedia).
