Still blown away by the breathtaking scenery and happy with this photograph I headed back to the campsite on the small plain right above the uppermost hairpin bend of the Tremola. I was glad to have set up my tent earlier this afternoon – btw: can you spot it? – and the idea of cuddling into my comfortable down sleeping bag made me smile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

It was a rather long way back over to the Gotthard hospice, passing by the Cappella dei Morti and then stepping down the small path to the campsite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I passed by the Cappella dei Morti all alone in the dark at 10:30 p.m. on my way back to my tent I was glad to have risked a view inside the chapel earlier today in order to check is was empty. Years ago those who lost their lives crossing the Gotthard Pass were kept in the Cappella dei Morti (Chapel of the Dead) until burial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approaching the Cappella dei Morti I caught myself holding my breath – what a creepy feeling being there in the middle of the night – all alone! – and finally I was relieved when I reached the campsite and my tent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am going to sleep now. See you again tomorrow. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
