Yesterday I wanted to photograph some beautiful black and white compositions in the wood. It was the first day of my vacation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the scenery did not seem to be ready for black & white. Or was it me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In fact I tried to find a composition similar to those earlier this year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Braving the wheather and the cold wind – why is it always in my face, btw? – I was happy when I finally reached the sheltering wood. Although almost mid October deep darks and greens still dominated the spectrum, all the more since it started raining. Don’t worry, I love the outdoors whatever the weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I set my camera to black & white, B&W (TE) to emulate the monochrome (slightly greenish) black & white effect and to help visualizing my composition, but I didn’t like the effect. By converting the image to black & white I regretted the fine greens and subtle dark green shadows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is the black & white (TE) image. Which do you like more?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a conclusion I am still happy with the results albeit I explicitly wanted to shoot in black & white. Maybe it is a matter of seeing or a matter of taste – or I was not ready for the decisive moment and the monochrome tones. Maybe another time? That’s why I keep carrying my camera always with me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
