What do manhole covers and Sushi have in common?

A déjà-vu with the Sushi manhole covers.

About 12 years ago near Nîmes (F) I photographed the asphalted cobblestone road and two beautiful manhole covers brightly shining in the backlit. I was fascinated by the strong contrasts and deep shadows. In my eyes it was one of my favourite images of all our trip.
But I was alone with my opinion. My wife Arlette called it the “Sushi manhole covers”. What do manhole covers and Sushi have in common?

Unfortunately the original film negative has never been printed – the image is still eagerly waiting for it’s rediscovery in better times.

Monochromes after work

After saying goodbye to my students to the weekend yesterday evening I spent another hour to make use of the interesting perspective from my classroom on the 4th floor to the building site right opposite and to the surroundings. But the best view was bottom up, imo.

My last week was crazy stuffed with work, unbelievable short bedtimes in impersonal and desolate sterile hotel rooms – I was more than busy with my customers. Nevertheless it was a good week with some very quiet moments before and after the coaching.
