Photoessay, April 2019. Val Colla. Switzerland.
Probably it’s because I have been thinking too long about it – I can’t decide, which of my images I like most … do you know this feeling?
The first three images of the Denti della Veccia are made from the opposite side of the Val Colla, at Bidogno at early dusk. During the past twenty years I have made thousands of photographs of the famous Denti della Vecchia – and in my opinion this one is one of the most beautiful of the ‘Denti’ I ever made.
Which of the three looks the best for you?
Here are the two images of Cima di Fojorina made from the opposite side of the Val Colla, near Corticiasca. I love both the black and white and the color version.
Which one do you like more?
This series was shot on film with my Ricoh GR II, GR Lens f=18.3 mm 1:2.8 – the most film like camera ever – at least in my opinion. .DNG RAW format. All images were edited in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

Very nice, the first and then the second are my favorites.
Thank you Muh! Colorwise I love the first image of the first group (the Denti della Vecchia) most, and the black and white of the second group (Cima di Fojorina). On the other hand I am a little bit disappointed by the sharpening performance of Adobe Lightroom: The first image of the first group was edited and sharpened in Adobe Lightroom, the second and third were sharpened directly in my RICOH GR II (in body) – and it seems to do better than Lightroom … Maybe this is pixelpeeping – I know.
Hello Chris,
very nice atmosphere in your images. I’m more into color photography, therefore, my selection won’t be that surprising: I like the 3rd image from the first set, and the second from the 2nd set. Especially the second photo looks amazing in color due to the fact that the snow on the top stands out. Keep up the good work!

Thank you a lot George! I am in between the color and black and white versions – my roots are black and white, that’s how I seriously started my photography back in the old film days, having an fully equipped b&w darkroom and spending nights in it ;-). Thank you for your comment! Christian
