Photostorytelling. Fetlar, Shetland Islands. August 2019.
On a hiking tour on Fetlar we entered the territory of the Arctic tern. As we did not want to disturb them we tried to stay in a safe distance and nevertheless got ‘attacked’. The closest approach by outraged Arctic terns was about one meter.
30 images (see all of them below) were made within two or three minutes. Afterwards we left the beautiful birds alone again.

All photographs were made with my good old RICOH GR II, GR Lens f=18.3 mm at f8 – please keep in mind this is an equivalent to 28 mm in full frame! All in .DNG RAW format and without any crop (except square format). Edited in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Single Shot mode, Snap Focus, most of them at ISO 400, f8 and 1/4000 s.

Excellent series! And what a brilliant idea to use the beloved GR ii for it!
Thank you George! In one of my latest blog posts () I asked myself, if I should buy into another camera system and thought about the camera of my dreams. But considering the Arctic tern images – and btw all of them, no image was deleted! – I am not sure anymore, if I really should buy another camera. I love my GR II! Thank you once more for your comment!
Voll toll diese Bilder. Ich fühle mich gleich wieder mittendrin. Hörst du das kreischen? Mega. Danke fürs teilen.
Danke! Ja mittendrin. Das ist der richtige Ausdruck. Das Erlebnis ist schlicht unbezahlbar. Danke!
