I had been warned.

«Once you are connected to the Light in the Western Isles, you will always come back.»

True.

Approaching Barra

Approaching Barra.

Two hours before reaching Barra, the temperature dropped noticeably and the wind picked up to a cold breeze. Almost alone on the upper deck of MS Eilean Leodhais (Isle of Lewis), I enjoyed the quiet solitude and the endless horizon of the Hebridean Sea.

Every time I have passed the Top Store building in the Square Car Park in Castlebay, I have had a quick look in the windows of the second and top floors of the old building.

I have never seen anything paranormal behind the windows - but what about the top middle room?

Rain

Tired from a long walk along the coast and back home, I spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on the bench in front of the house, watching the ever-changing light. Slowly the warm evening light turned white, the breeze picked up and it started to rain.

Time for a warm peat fire.

“Dark clouds full of rain crashing in
Raindrops driven restlessly by endless gusts
But behind all the island shines”

The view across Bàgh a Tuath to Fùidheigh was a reflection on photography, art, philosophy and life that I will never forget.
